At the Moscone Center in San Francisco on June 7, the second day of the HumanX artificial intelligence (AI) conference, the speaking slot scheduled for Charles Liang, CEO of Super Micro Computer, was quietly removed from the event program. At last year's conference, Liang had evangelized the future of AI and the need for data center construction. This time, he was set to introduce Super Micro's data center building block solutions (DCBBS). It was a prime opportunity to pitch the company's products before 400 sponsors and 6,500 attendees.
HumanX, the event organizer, had listed Liang among roughly 350 speakers as recently as last month. His biography read: "Charles Liang, founder, CEO, president and chairman of Supermicro, has led the company to become a global leader delivering market-leading innovative technologies in artificial intelligence." That biography and all other Super Micro-related content have since been deleted. A HumanX spokesperson said of Liang's attendance: "He is no longer participating."
