Iran has reportedly allowed ships carrying essential goods to its ports to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's Tasnim News reported this on Friday (local time), citing related documents. According to the report, ships heading to Iranian ports, including those positioned in the Gulf of Oman, must coordinate with Iranian authorities in advance and comply with protocols for passage through the strait.
A letter dated April 1 stated: "In accordance with the agreement and announcement of the strong Iranian government and the victorious Iranian military, we have decided to allow ships carrying humanitarian goods, particularly essential goods and animal feed, to pass through the Strait of Hormuz."
Iran has effectively blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, a major energy shipping route, amid an ongoing war following airstrikes by the United States and Israel since late February.
