The death toll from the U.S.-Iran armed conflict has reached nearly 900 as fighting entered its fourth day on Saturday.
According to Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the Iranian Red Crescent Society reported at least 787 deaths from U.S. and Israeli airstrikes as of Saturday. The figure represents an increase of more than 200 from the previous day's count of at least 555.
Among the dead are 168 children and 14 teachers. An elementary school in the coastal city of Minab in Iran's Hormozgan Province was directly hit by an airstrike on Jan. 28, causing significant casualties.
Fatalities have also been reported on the U.S. and Israeli side. At least 10 people died in Israel and approximately 200 were injured, according to CNN. Six U.S. soldiers were killed when an Iranian drone struck and exploded at a temporary command post in Kuwait.
Iran's retaliatory attacks targeting U.S. military bases and assets across the Middle East have caused casualties in neighboring Gulf states. Four deaths were reported in Iraq, nine in Kuwait, three in the United Arab Emirates, and one in Bahrain.
Lebanon has also seen multiple fatalities from clashes between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah. According to the Lebanese government, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 52 people and wounded 154 across the country on Friday.
Despite mounting casualties, the spiral of war continues to escalate uncontrollably. More than 11 countries are now directly involved in the conflict. The Trump administration has signaled multi-week operations backed by overwhelming firepower. President Trump stated on Thursday: "However long this war takes, we will see it through, and America has the military and material capability to sustain it far longer."
