Israel Launches Second Day of Airstrikes on Iran; Explosions Heard in Tehran

The Israeli military announced it launched airstrikes against Iran for a second consecutive day in the early hours of Saturday local time.

"The military has begun additional strikes targeting ballistic missile facilities and air defense systems held by the Iranian terror regime," the Israeli military said in a statement.

Foreign media reported loud explosions were heard in the capital Tehran early Saturday morning.

Since Friday morning, Israeli forces conducted multiple airstrikes alongside U.S. military forces on major cities across Iran, including Tehran, Qom, Isfahan, Karaj, Shiraz, and Kermanshah.

The United States and Israel announced that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in Friday's strikes.

The Israeli military also confirmed that several key defense and security officials were killed in the bombardment, including Ali Shamkhani, military advisor to the Supreme Leader; Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Forces; Mohammad Shirazi, head of the Supreme Leader's Military Office; and Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh.
