The United States and Israel conducted airstrikes across Iran on the 28th (local time), with the US Department of Defense naming the operation "Epic Fury."
According to CNN, the Pentagon posted the phrase "OPERATION EPIC FURY" alongside the American flag on social media platform X. The operation name for last June's US airstrikes on three major Iranian nuclear facilities was "Midnight Hammer."
US President Donald Trump released an 8-minute video message on social media platform Truth Social, stating, "The United States has launched major combat operations against Iran." He added that "the objective is to eliminate the threat posed by the Iranian regime."
Trump also declared, "The Iranian regime can never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons," adding, "We will destroy Iran's missiles."
