Wall Street initially anticipated that President Trump would nominate a successor within this year to pressure the current Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, but this was eventually postponed.
President Trump presided over a cabinet meeting at the White House on the 2nd (local time) and said, “We will probably announce someone as the new chairman of the Federal Reserve early next year.” Major foreign sources currently believe that White House National Economic Council (NEC) Chairman Kevin Hassett is the most likely to be the next Federal Reserve Chairman. Other candidates include Kevin Wash, former Federal Reserve Director Christopher Waller, Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Michelle Borman, and Rick Ryder, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the bonds division of BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager.
On this occasion, President Trump also announced that he plans to deploy the National Guard in New Orleans, Louisiana within a few weeks. President Trump explained, “It was requested by Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry.” Governor Landry is a member of the Republican Party, and the mayor of New Orleans belongs to the Democratic Party. President Trump is also trying to deploy the National Guard in Chicago, Illinois, and Portland, Oregon, etc., but these regions controlled by the Democratic Party oppose this.
