CJ ENM (035760.KS) said on the 6th that its commerce division, CJ ONSTYLE, posted preliminary second-quarter operating profit of 26 billion won, up 21.2% from a year earlier. Revenue over the same period rose 4.4% year-on-year to 402.8 billion won.
Mobile live commerce (MLC) transaction volume increased 161.3% from a year earlier. New app installations rose 25.6% over the same period, while monthly active users (MAU) grew 10.5%.
CJ ONSTYLE said the results came from spreading short-form content to external channels such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, and from incorporating fandom intellectual property (IP) content into commerce, including professional baseball broadcasts and the film "The Devil Wears Prada 2." Among product categories, the expansion of premium travel and children's categories drove top-line growth. The company also strengthened its lineup in health functional foods and premium beauty categories, which supported the earnings improvement.
"In the second half, we plan to continue expanding our platform customer base, while diversifying our content and music intellectual property (IP) businesses and expanding global distribution to sustain the momentum in profitability improvement," a CJ ENM official said.
