Hansol Paper (213500) posted sharp earnings growth in the second quarter of this year, driven by increased sales of white cardboard used for cosmetics and food packaging. Rising thermal paper prices and the effect of U.S. reciprocal tariff refunds also had a positive impact on the improved results.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 30th, Hansol Paper recorded operating profit of 50.8 billion won in the second quarter of this year on a consolidated basis, up 163% from a year earlier. Over the same period, revenue rose 4.9% to 592.7 billion won, while net profit increased 253% to 30 billion won.
Cumulative operating profit for the first half was 62 billion won and revenue was 1.1525 trillion won, up 56.4% and 1%, respectively.
"In the second quarter of 2026, sales of white cardboard for cosmetics and food packaging increased as global K-culture spread," a Hansol Paper official said. "Rising thermal paper prices caused by supply disruptions of Chinese thermal dyes, combined with the tariff refund effect following the nullification of U.S. reciprocal tariffs, boosted revenue and operating profit compared with the same period last year."
