The Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) is launching housing and medical support for families raising children in crisis in the Busan area.
HUG announced on the 27th that it is recruiting participating families for the "Golden Time Safe Home" project together with the Southern Regional Headquarters of Save the Children. The project aims to protect households raising children who face housing and medical crises.
Eligible recipients are households residing in Busan that are raising children aged 18 or younger with underlying conditions and require medical services. A total of 10 households will be recruited. In particular, priority will be given to households designated as jeonse (a Korean lease system requiring a large lump-sum deposit instead of monthly rent) fraud victims, households preparing or in the process of relocating with HUG low-interest loans, and low-income households with income at or below 100% of the median.
Selected households will receive up to 7 million won in housing support (monthly rent, moving costs, brokerage fees, etc.) and up to 2 million won in medical expenses (emergency and outpatient treatment costs, examination fees, medication costs, etc.), reimbursed on an actual-cost basis. Monitoring will be conducted once a month during the project period, and psychological and emotional support as well as services linking families to local health infrastructure will also be provided.
Applications are made through an initial submission via an online Google Form, followed by submission of supporting documents to the Save the Children Southern Regional Headquarters by email. Detailed inquiries can be directed to the Busan Children's Rights Center.
A HUG official said, "We hope this project will serve as a catalyst for providing a safe and healthy housing environment to households with children in crisis due to jeonse fraud and other causes," adding, "We ask for much interest and participation."
