Hoban Group is accelerating its push into the Oceania market, targeting surging demand for power infrastructure driven by expanded investment in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and the energy transition. Kim Dae-heon, president of planning at Hoban Group, visited Australia and held a series of meetings with global data center operators and transmission grid operators to discuss ways to expand cooperation, in an on-site management effort.
Hoban Group said on the 13th that Kim visited Australia for about a week starting on the 6th, discussing business cooperation with global clients and inspecting major project sites with Taihan Cable & Solution's Australian subsidiary.
The visit is aimed at strengthening the foundation for global cooperation in response to expanded investment in AI data centers and power grids. Hoban Group is expanding its presence in the global power infrastructure market with Taihan Cable at its center, and is reinforcing its overseas market push in response to rising demand for ultra-high-voltage transmission grids and data center power facilities driven by the growth of the AI industry.
In Sydney, Australia, Kim met with executives of AirTrunk, a global data center developer and operator, to discuss ways to expand cooperation in the data center power infrastructure sector. The two sides shared information on demand for power infrastructure construction from the spread of AI data centers and on projects planned for the future, and discussed the possibility of mid- to long-term cooperation.
Kim then met with officials from Transgrid, Australia's largest transmission grid operator, to review plans for an AI data center power grid construction project recently won by Taihan Cable. The two sides exchanged views on changes in Australia's power grid and renewable energy market and agreed to expand their cooperative relationship.
Kim also visited Taihan Cable's Australian subsidiary to review business operations and the progress of major projects, and discussed market strategy in response to rising power demand in the Oceania region. He visited major project sites to personally inspect processes and quality management.
Hoban Group has been continuing its overseas on-site management to expand its presence in the global power infrastructure market. Earlier this year, Kim visited Taihan Cable's Dangjin plant to review production capacity and facility investment plans, and in May he visited Denmark and the Netherlands to discuss ways to expand cooperation with global renewable energy companies.
Oceania is one of Taihan Cable's key strategic markets. Since entering the Australian market in 2004, Taihan Cable has carried out cable supply and power projects, and it has recently been accelerating its business expansion as demand for ultra-high-voltage power grid construction grows alongside increased investment in AI data centers.
"The global power infrastructure market is changing rapidly due to the growth of the AI industry and the energy transition," Kim said. "Based on our technological capabilities and project execution abilities, we will expand cooperation with global clients and continuously strengthen our foundation for future growth."
