Sandoll, an artificial intelligence (AI) content platform company, said on the 9th that it is boosting production efficiency by applying its in-house developed AI to actual Korean font production work.
Sandoll developed its own AI based on Korean font production data and is using it in the production of mobile fonts and retail fonts. The company has released AI-produced fonts as actual commercial products, and applying its AI technology to real production sites has shortened production time by approximately 60%.
Sandoll released 'Iam Oneureun Knitting Day,' its first mobile font produced with AI, and unveiled 'SD Morning Routine,' a retail font for PC produced using AI, early this month. Through this, the company is expanding the scope of AI application from mobile fonts to retail fonts, continuously verifying the viability of AI-based font production technology at actual production sites.
Sandoll's achievements are the result of training its AI on Korean font production data and technical expertise accumulated over many years. The company trained its in-house AI on the unique structural characteristics and design principles of Hangul, applying technology that automates the glyph generation process to actual production. This has reduced repetitive production processes and improved production efficiency.
Previously, designers performed most of the glyph production process themselves. Since applying AI, the AI handles glyph generation, while designers review and refine the generated results to enhance the completeness of the fonts.
Sandoll is verifying the viability of this new production method by applying AI to actual font production processes. Going forward, the company plans to continuously advance its AI technology and expand its application beyond Korean fonts to multilingual fonts such as Chinese, which require large-scale glyph production, improving production efficiency and accelerating its entry into the global market.
"Sandoll plans to develop its Korean font production technology and AI together by applying its in-house AI to actual production processes, and will continue to advance the technology in directions that can improve production efficiency," a Sandoll official said.
