Shinsegae Food (031440) said Wednesday it will export its convenience health food "Nutritious Samgyetang" to the United States for the first time.
The Nutritious Samgyetang being exported will be sold at some 100 outlets, including major Korean supermarkets in the U.S. such as Mega Mart and Arirang Market, as well as ethnic markets (retailers targeting specific ethnic groups) such as "Tokyo Central" and "Little Tokyo." An initial shipment of approximately 8,000 packs is scheduled to be shipped this month.
Nutritious Samgyetang is a product Shinsegae Food introduced in 2022. It delivers a rich flavor by boiling a whole domestic chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, ginseng and garlic in a domestic vegetable broth. Cumulative domestic sales reached 500,000 units last year.
Shinsegae Food plans to expand its export product lineup and distribution network by monitoring local consumer reactions, starting with this initial shipment.
"We are introducing Nutritious Samgyetang, whose taste and quality have been proven through steady popularity in Korea, to the U.S. market for the first time," a Shinsegae Food official said. "Through continuous monitoring of local reactions and the market, we will diversify our export product lineup with marketable products."
