SD Biosensor is targeting the global public procurement market with its molecular diagnostic product for drug-resistant tuberculosis.
SD Biosensor said its tuberculosis molecular diagnostic product, "STANDARD M10 MTB-RIF·INH (M10 MRI)," has been officially listed on the Global Fund's tuberculosis molecular diagnostics procurement list. Through this listing, the company plans to expand its long-term revenue base in the global tuberculosis public procurement market built on the M10 platform.
The Global Fund is one of the leading international health organizations, investing up to $4 billion (about 6 trillion won) annually to combat tuberculosis, HIV, and malaria. It plays a key role in the global tuberculosis response, supporting the treatment of 7.4 million tuberculosis patients during 2024.
The listing means M10 MRI has been recognized as a product eligible for procurement in countries supported by the Global Fund. Through this, SD Biosensor plans to expand supply opportunities to health authorities and international health organizations worldwide, national tuberculosis programs (NTP), and Global Fund-supported projects.
M10 MRI is a tuberculosis molecular diagnostic product based on aNAAT technology recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Automated nucleic acid amplification testing (aNAAT) can detect tuberculosis bacteria more quickly than conventional culture testing, and it also provides drug-resistance information, which can help establish early treatment strategies. Along with detecting tuberculosis bacteria, it simultaneously analyzes genes related to resistance to rifampicin (RIF) and isoniazid (INH), the major first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs. Through a single all-in-one cartridge, it automatically performs the entire process from nucleic acid extraction to amplification and result analysis, delivering test results within about 99 minutes.
"This listing on the Global Fund procurement list is an important stepping stone for expanding the M10 platform's global supply and growing overseas revenue," said Kim Seok-kyu, executive director of SD Biosensor's overseas business division. "Supply opportunities targeting Global Fund-supported countries will expand in stages."
