Seoul's Jungnang-gu is accelerating the Myeonmok Administrative Complex Town integrated development project, which passed the Seoul Metropolitan Government's second integrated public housing review last month.
According to Jungnang-gu on Wednesday, the integrated development project will utilize a public facility site near Yongmasan Station on Subway Line 7, in the area of 378-10 Myeonmok-dong, to redevelop administrative and cultural facilities while also creating public housing. Ranging from four basement floors to 47 above-ground floors, the complex will house administrative and welfare facilities and 712 apartment units, along with a youth training center, a public parking lot, and retail facilities.
The plan also includes improving the pedestrian environment in connection with Yongmasan Station, creating retail facilities on lower floors, and expanding community facilities such as a fitness center, senior center, and guesthouse. Through these efforts, the district plans to develop the Yongmasan Station area into a regional hub combining administrative, cultural, and residential functions.
Ahead of the project, the district will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the demolition of the Jungnang-gu Community Hall, an existing facility on the site, to mark the full-scale launch of the integrated development project. Completed in 1994, the Jungnang-gu Community Hall has long served as a cultural space for local residents, and the demolition is a preliminary step for the integrated development project.
Going forward, Jungnang-gu plans to cooperate with related agencies such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH) to carry out follow-up administrative procedures, including approval of the housing construction project plan, without setbacks, aiming to break ground in 2027 and complete construction in 2030.
"The completion of the integrated public housing review means that the Myeonmok Administrative Complex Town integrated development project has entered a full-scale implementation stage," Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-ki said. "Starting with the demolition of the Jungnang-gu Community Hall, we will develop the Yongmasan Station area into a new regional hub combining administrative, cultural, and residential functions, creating urban change that residents can experience firsthand."
