T'way Air said Friday that its air cargo volume in the first half of this year reached 18,000 tons, up 37% from a year earlier, continuing its growth trend.
T'way Air's annual cargo volume has been rising sharply, doubling from 17,000 tons in 2024 to 34,000 tons last year. If the same trend seen in the first half continues in the second half of this year, the airline is expected to surpass last year's annual figure.
T'way Air explained that its cargo volume has been growing as it introduced large aircraft including the A330-300 and secured a variety of long-haul routes. In the second half, the airline plans to introduce Airbus's next-generation aircraft, the A330-900NEO, to strengthen its cargo transport competitiveness. "The A330-900NEO is an aircraft that dramatically reduces carbon emissions and fuel consumption compared with existing aircraft, and through this we plan to strengthen our environmental, social and governance (ESG) management," a T'way Air official said. "As the international situation stabilizes in the second half of this year, air cargo volume is expected to continue increasing."
