KB Kookmin Bank is changing the way it develops financial services using artificial intelligence (AI). By applying AI to tasks that developers previously designed and coded by hand, the bank is building a system in which AI supports design, code writing, and testing when a desired function is described in words.
KB Kookmin Bank said it launched the "KB AI Dev (Development) Center" on the 1st of this month. The center was established to create a development environment in which AI participates from service planning through development to testing.
Previously, developers had to analyze requirements and then personally handle the design, coding, and verification processes. Going forward, when a user describes a needed function in everyday language, AI analyzes it, proposes a development direction, and assists with code generation and testing. Kookmin Bank expects this to shorten financial service development periods and improve work efficiency.
The center handles automatic code generation, prototype development, security and error verification, and testing for the application of the latest AI technologies. It also serves to verify whether the latest external AI technologies can be quickly applied to actual financial service development.
Kookmin Bank is also connecting global AI code agent solutions such as Claude Code to its practical development process. An AI code agent is a tool that writes or modifies code when a developer issues commands in natural language. Through this, the bank plans to reduce repetitive development work and speed up service launches.
The bank has also put in place mechanisms to ensure security and stability. Kookmin Bank applied its self-developed "Harness" to automatically check whether code and outputs created by AI meet the bank's development standards and security policies. Even when AI organizes requirements, generates code, and conducts testing, the structure involves human participation in the final approval process.
"We will use AI technology to provide faster and more stable digital financial services," a Kookmin Bank official said.
