LIG Defense & Aerospace (079550) (LIG D&A) has donated funds to promote the welfare of national veterans in celebration of its 50th anniversary.
LIG D&A said Friday that it held an event to deliver 100 million won to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs at the Turtle Marathon held Wednesday at the picnic area of Olympic Park in Seoul. The donation will be used for medical support and housing improvements for national veterans and their families.
"The freedom and peace we enjoy today were made possible by the noble sacrifice and dedication of national veterans," LIG D&A CEO Shin Ik-hyun said. "We will continue to work to raise social interest in them and to establish a culture of honoring them."
The Turtle Marathon was held to reflect on the noble sacrifice and dedication of national veterans and to practice gratitude and sharing, with LIG D&A executives, employees, and their families participating. Key officials including CEO Shin and Yook Hyun-soo, Director-General of the Veterans Medical Welfare Bureau at the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, also attended.
Meanwhile, LIG D&A has continuously carried out patriotic and veterans-related events to fulfill its social responsibility as a defense company. These include "Memorial Hiking," in which participants walk together with family and friends to reflect on the sacrificial spirit of fallen patriots and national heroes, support for daily necessities during the hot summer season, commemoration of West Sea Defense Day, and Parents' Day events for fallen soldiers.
