Shinyoung Securities has appointed Kim Dae-il, a wealth management expert, as its new chief executive officer.
The brokerage said on the 19th that it appointed Kim as new CEO at a regular shareholders' meeting and board meeting held at its headquarters in Yeouido. With the appointment, Shinyoung Securities will operate under a co-CEO system, with CEO Geum Jeong-ho overseeing investment banking (IB) and CEO Kim heading wealth management (WM).
Born in 1968, Kim graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in business administration and earned a master's degree in finance from the University of Illinois in the United States. Since joining Shinyoung Securities in 1999, he has built a career in wealth management, serving as head of the asset allocation division, head of the Family Heritage and asset allocation solutions division, and senior vice president overseeing WM. He is credited in particular with laying the foundation for the "Family Heritage" business, a comprehensive wealth succession service for ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
Shinyoung Securities plans to further strengthen the competitiveness of its corporate finance and wealth management divisions through the appointment. Geum will lead the corporate finance business based on his extensive experience overseeing the IB division, while Kim will handle wealth management and customized client solutions, drawing on his experience leading the WM division.
A Shinyoung Securities official said, "This shift to a co-CEO system aims to create synergy based on the unmatched expertise of the two CEOs and to speed up decision-making," adding, "We will pursue balanced growth in the WM and IB divisions under stable risk management, enhancing customer value and further solidifying our standing as a premier name in wealth management."
