The stocks most net-bought by high-return investors trading at Mirae Asset Securities (006800.KS) on Monday were Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), HVM (295310.KQ), and LIG Defense and Aerospace (079550.KS), in that order.
According to Mirae Asset Securities, Samsung Electronics was the most-bought stock as of 11 a.m. Monday among "stock masters" — clients ranked in the top 1% by investment return over the past month. Samsung Electronics shares were trading up in the 4% range.
The top traders had net-sold Samsung Electronics the most on the previous trading day but switched to net buying on Monday. This is interpreted as a revival of investor sentiment toward market-leading stocks, as agreement on a ceasefire memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran became visible.
Kim Dae-jun, a researcher at Korea Investment & Securities, stressed in a report Monday that "going forward, investors will be able to set aside the macro anxiety triggered by Middle East issues and focus on the fundamentals that drive share prices." He added, "Semiconductors can become a focus of fund flows based on solid earnings, so a buy-and-hold strategy is needed."
Investment strategies diverged on SK hynix, however. The stock most net-sold by the top traders in the morning was SK hynix.
The second-largest net buy was HVM. The KOSDAQ-listed HVM is a specialty metals materials company. Following SpaceX's recent initial public offering (IPO), expectations are gaining strength that the earnings growth of HVM, an official specialty materials supplier, will accelerate further.
HVM shares are currently in a sharp decline in the 11% range, and it is estimated that many investors judged a bottom-fishing strategy to be valid. Han Yu-gun, a researcher at Hana Securities, analyzed in a recent report that "direct and indirect benefits to HVM from the SpaceX listing are expected," adding that "the expected intensity of new orders will be stronger in the second half than in the first half."
The third-largest net buy was LIG Defense and Aerospace. Despite news of the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, domestic defense stocks were broadly strong. LIG Defense and Aerospace also maintained a gain in the 8% range.
Domestic defense stocks have shown relatively sluggish movement recently, failing to keep pace with the KOSPI's rally. Securities analysts forecast that the earnings of domestic defense companies will improve toward the second half. Chae Un-saem, a researcher at Hana Securities, said, "Defense stocks have shown sluggish movement compared to the KOSPI over the past two months, but the earnings growth trend remains valid," adding, "LIG Defense and Aerospace has a high possibility of additional Cheongung-II exports amid the continued global shortage of air defense missile supply."
The top net-buy stocks on the previous trading day were Ecopro BM (247540.KQ), NAVER (035420.KS), and Samsung Electronics preferred shares (005935.KS), in that order. The top net-sell stocks were Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI (006400.KS), and SK Square (402340.KS), in that order.
