Lotte Hi-mart (071840.KS) said Thursday that it has named Vice President Kim Jong-yoon as its new CEO nominee.
Born in 1978, Kim built his career in business strategy, marketing, and new business development at companies including Google, McKinsey & Company, and Yanolja.
At Yanolja, he served as chief strategy officer (CSO), chief business officer (CBO), and CEO of Yanolja Cloud, leading the company's global investment fundraising, business portfolio expansion, and overseas expansion. The company said Kim also played a role in establishing an artificial intelligence (AI) and data-based operating system and building a cloud SaaS business model.
Lotte Hi-mart emphasized that Kim is regarded as a hands-on executive who has driven business innovation based on his data-driven decision-making capabilities and global business operating experience. As Lotte Hi-mart works to improve its business fundamentals and strengthen competitiveness in response to changes in the home appliance market environment, the company said Kim's experience and youthful sensibility will help drive the company's innovation and discovery of new growth engines.
Meanwhile, Lotte has switched to a system of ad hoc executive appointments to flexibly respond to global business uncertainties and enhance the speed and execution of its operations.
