The Kospi surged 7% in early trading on the 12th, triggering a temporary suspension of program buy orders (a buy-side sidecar). It was the 13th buy-side sidecar this year.
According to the Korea Exchange, at around 9:06:02 a.m. that day, program buy orders were suspended for five minutes due to a swing in the Kospi 200 futures index.
As of 9:22 a.m., the Kospi stood at 8,353.35, up 7.59% from the previous trading day.
