The Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA) said it discussed the state of capital markets and bilateral cooperation measures with China's Shenwan Hongyuan Securities.
According to KOFIA on Monday, KOFIA Chairman Hwang Sung-yup held a meeting with Zhang Jian, CEO of Shenwan Hongyuan Securities, and its executives to discuss cooperation measures. Shenwan Hongyuan Securities is a large Chinese state-owned full-service securities firm listed on the Shenzhen and Hong Kong exchanges. It has operated a Seoul office since 2009, conducting research on Korean capital market trends and building networks between institutional investors in the two countries.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the state and outlook of the capital markets in both countries, Shenwan Hongyuan Securities' plans to expand its Korean business, and potential cooperation between financial investment companies in the two countries. In particular, both sides agreed on the need to deepen understanding of the Korean and Chinese capital markets and expand exchanges in response to changes in the global investment environment.
"The Korean capital market, which is growing into an era of 'Korea premium,' has been improving accessibility for global investors through a series of recent regulatory improvements," Hwang said. "The association will continue to strive for overseas sales of the K-capital market through exchanges with major foreign financial investment institutions."
