Samsung Group has declared an "AI Transformation" to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) across all operations of its affiliates. Following an order from Jay Y. Lee, Chairman of Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), to "fundamentally change the way we work and our organizational DNA," all Samsung affiliates have embarked on a major AI initiative to overhaul operations with AI at the center.
Samsung said Wednesday that it would pursue AX (AI Transformation) across all affiliates, introducing AI throughout operations and redesigning organizational management around AI.
Under a policy of having CEOs lead the AX effort, Samsung will hold an "AX Bootcamp" this month at the Samsung Human Resources Development Institute, training about 50 CEOs from all affiliates for the first time ever. After two days of training, the CEOs plan to proclaim an "AI Vision" to transform Samsung's DNA to be AI-centered.
Samsung also plans to provide a two-night, three-day training program for about 2,300 executives across all affiliates by August 12, so they can internalize the new AI DNA. AI training for all of its approximately 280,000 employees will be completed within the year.
"Amid massive changes and crises such as the digital and mobile transitions, we have leaped to become a top-tier company through bold challenges and innovation," a Samsung official said. "The 'AI Transformation' declaration is the starting point of innovation to leap into an AI-native company, and we will seize and lead the opportunities of the AI era."
