Kim Ki-hwan, former CEO of KB Insurance, has been elected as the new chairman of the Korea Fire Protection Association, marking its 19th chairmanship.
The association held a general meeting of members that day and gave final approval to the appointment of Kim, who was the sole candidate recommended by the chairman nomination committee. Kim will take office at an inauguration ceremony on the 22nd and officially begin his duties.
Born in 1963, Kim graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in economics and entered the financial sector in 1991. He served as managing director of KB Kookmin Bank's consumer protection group, executive vice president and chief risk officer (CRO) of KB Financial Group, and vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of KB Financial Group. He then served as CEO of KB Insurance for three years starting in 2021.
