Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang said he had dinner a few weeks ago with Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) Chairman Jay Y. Lee, whom he first met during their initial "kkanbu gathering" seven months earlier.
On Sunday, Huang held a "second kkanbu gathering" with SK Group Chairman Tae-won Choi and SK affiliate executives at the Kkanbu Chicken Samsung branch in Seoul's Gangnam district.
Huang's meeting with Chairman Lee of Samsung Electronics, a key memory supplier, drew attention, as Huang said upon entering Korea through the Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center on Friday that he had "come to coordinate the supply chain, including memory."
Explaining why he did not meet with Chairman Lee that day, Huang said, "(Chairman Lee) is traveling," adding, "He already came to see me in California a few weeks ago, and we had a really wonderful dinner together."
Instead, Huang will meet Samsung Electronics Chief Executive Jun Young-hyun on Monday at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul's Jung district. "I'm looking forward to meeting YH tomorrow," Huang said.
Regarding the memory shortage, Huang said, "I think the shortage will continue for quite a few years," adding, "Because (AI chip) demand is so strong, everything across the entire supply chain — from wafers to advanced packaging, silicon photonics, and cable connectors — is in shortage."
