LG Display (034220.KS) has earned international recognition for the quality of its automotive software, cementing its leadership in displays for the era of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
LG Display said Tuesday it has obtained Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) Level 2, an international standard certification for automotive software development, from certification body C&BIS.
ASPICE is an international standard created by the global automaker industry to evaluate the software development capabilities and reliability of electronic component manufacturers. As the number of electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles surges, the standard demands rigorous management across the entire development process to prevent software defects in components.
The certification reflects LG Display's achievements in equipping displays for vehicle instrument clusters and center fascias with proprietary diagnostic and control functions. As a key partner in automotive electronics systems, the company demonstrated advanced capabilities in software quality and reliability control. Industry observers say LG Display has secured technological leadership across both hardware and software at a time when automotive displays are evolving from simple information panels into platforms that encompass infotainment and vehicle control.
LG Display, which became the first in the industry to obtain the international standard for automotive cybersecurity engineering (ISO SAE 21434) in December last year, further elevated its technological standing with the ASPICE certification. The company plans to leverage these credentials to expand new orders in the North American and other global automaker markets and to strengthen strategic partnerships with customers.
