Kim Young-ki, president of HD Hyundai Electric (267260.KS), received the Global Quality Management Award at the "2026 Korean Society for Quality Management Spring Conference" held on the 29th of last month, the company said Saturday.
The Global Quality Management Award is presented to executives who have made significant contributions to the development of Korean industry and quality management activities and have delivered results in corporate social responsibility. The Korean Society for Quality Management has presented the award annually since 1998.
Kim has placed quality, the core competitiveness of the global power infrastructure industry, as the top priority of management, leading company-wide quality innovation. HD Hyundai Electric is systematically strengthening its quality competitiveness by establishing digital quality management that combines on-site quality control with a data-based decision-making system.
HD Hyundai Electric is instilling quality management principles at production sites and partner companies through "Q-Walk" activities, in which the chief executive personally visits sites. The company has also developed its own quality capability enhancement program (Q-Academy) and is operating systematic training programs for employees and approximately 160 partner companies.
The company is also actively pursuing the digital transformation of quality management. HD Hyundai Electric has upgraded its quality data platform to manage materials, process, and test data in real time. It has also introduced augmented reality (AR)-based quality inspection that compares blueprints with actual assembly conditions in real time, improving inspection efficiency and accuracy.
Through these efforts, HD Hyundai Electric reduced its failure cost relative to revenue last year by approximately 70% compared with 2022. Over the same period, revenue and operating profit increased by 93.8% and 648.3%, respectively.
"This award is the result of company-wide quality innovation pursued under the principle that quality cannot be a subject of compromise," Kim said. "We will continue to protect customer trust through uncompromising principles."
