Hanwha Aerospace (012450) said on the 27th that it has appointed Kim Dong-hyun (pictured), head of its Land Systems (LS) division, as president of its Australian subsidiary. Kim will lead the Australian operations while continuing to serve as head of the LS division.
Kim has worked at Hanwha Aerospace for more than 20 years, serving as head of the research center and division head, and has grown the LS division more than tenfold. He will oversee local subsidiary management, including operations at the H-ACE plant in Geelong, Victoria, which has entered full-scale production, and the development of the supply chain within Australia.
Along with Kim's appointment, Hanwha Aerospace plans to focus on meeting the production schedules for its self-propelled howitzer (AS9) and infantry fighting vehicle (Redback) programs underway in Australia. The company will also build substantive research and development capabilities within Australia and bring H-ACE into full operation as a manufacturing hub.
A Hanwha Aerospace official said, "We will further accelerate efforts to strengthen execution of our Australian business."
