Kumho Engineering & Construction continues its winning streak in Korea's public-private partnership housing market.
The company announced Wednesday that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for the "Eco Delta City Block 8 Public-Private Public Sale Housing Construction Project" ordered by Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC). The win came as the company's integrated design reflecting the complex's characteristics and specialized design proposal received high marks from the evaluation committee, edging out competitors.
The total project cost stands at 328.9 billion won, with Kumho Engineering & Construction holding a 50.1% stake to lead the development. Kyungdong Engineering & Construction, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, Sammi Construction, and Jiwon Construction will join as consortium partners, and the complex will carry Kumho Engineering & Construction's residential brand "ARTERA."
The site is located around 3976 Gangdong-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan. The complex will be developed with two basement floors and 16 above-ground floors across 14 buildings, with units ranging from 59 to 84 square meters in exclusive area for a total of 1,057 households. All units will be supplied through public sale. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2028 and be completed by August 2031.
Kumho Engineering & Construction is designing the complex to maximize its locational advantages alongside the Nakdong River and a nearby neighborhood park. The plan uses a view structure that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape as its basic framework, with specialized gardens placed throughout to create a pleasant residential environment. In particular, a sky lounge will be installed in the landmark main building offering views of the Nakdong River, maximizing the value of the vista. The company also aims to obtain Zero Energy Building Grade 5 certification and a top-tier green building certification, creating an eco-friendly green complex befitting the Eco Delta City name.
The latest win is also notable as it marks consecutive achievements by Kumho Engineering & Construction in the public-private partnership housing sector. Last month, the company was also selected as the preferred bidder for the "U-Home Yuldong and Sangan Public-Private Partnership Public Housing Project" ordered by Ulsan Metropolitan Corporation (UMC). With a total project cost of 136.4 billion won, the project will supply a total of 483 units across the Yuldong A2 block (381 units) and Sangan B1 block (102 units) in Buk-gu, Ulsan.
"This selection is an achievement that once again confirms in the market the competitiveness of the ARTERA brand and our capability to execute public-private partnership projects," a Kumho Engineering & Construction official said. "We will create a residential complex that represents the region by leveraging differentiated design capabilities and product quality."
