The Korea Exchange (KRX) will close its securities, derivatives, and general commodities markets on Local Election Day and Constitution Day. Notably, Constitution Day has been added to the regular holiday schedule this year after being reinstated as a legal public holiday.
The exchange announced on the 20th that it will close the securities, derivatives, and general commodities markets on June 3 and July 17, in line with the government's designation of Local Election Day and Constitution Day as public holidays.
The closures will affect the KOSPI, KOSDAQ, and KONEX stock markets, as well as markets for exchange-traded funds (ETFs), exchange-traded notes (ETNs), and equity-linked warrants (ELWs), the bond market (including Repo), and the KRX Startup Market (KSM).
The derivatives and general commodities markets will also be closed. As a result, trading in the oil, gold, and emissions markets will be suspended. The night derivatives market is also included in the closure. However, night trading sessions opening at 6 p.m. on June 2 and July 16 will operate as normal.
Constitution Day, in particular, has been newly added to the exchange's regular holiday schedule after being reinstated as a legal public holiday this year. Investors should take note of the trading schedules for stocks, bonds, and derivatives during this period. The exchange added that over-the-counter derivatives clearing services and the operation of the Trade Repository (KRX-TR) will also be suspended.
