Lotte Group will host a large-scale offline event titled "MAPLE ATTACK! with LOTTE" in collaboration with MapleStory, Nexon's flagship game, the company said Thursday.
According to Daehong Communications, the event will run for approximately one month from the 22nd of this month through June 21 around the Jamsil Lotte World Tower area.
The grass plaza at Lotte World Tower's World Park will be transformed into "Maple Attack: Henesys Mushroom Park," themed after the in-game town of Henesys from MapleStory. The highlight of the event, the "Bubble Shower Event," will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a massive cascade of bubbles released from the sky on the hour.
Participatory programs include "Henesys Jump King," a trampoline mini-game linked to in-game characters, and an augmented reality (AR)-based "Treasure Mushroom Hunt Mission" set throughout the walking trail around Seokchon Lake. Hunting all five mushrooms entitles participants to rewards ranging from a 200,000 won hotel dining voucher, a Lotte World 1-Day Pass, and a 30,000 won Uniqlo voucher to three items from a newly launched MapleStory snack series created through a collaboration with Lotte Wellfood.
A giant art balloon shaped like the "Orange Mushroom," MapleStory's mascot, will be installed on Seokchon Lake to offer a unique sight. A pop-up store selling various MapleStory merchandise will also open on the first-floor atrium of Lotte World Mall.
Brand collaborations will continue. Lotte Wellfood will release a wide range of products incorporating MapleStory intellectual property (IP), featuring brands such as Kkokkalcorn, Custard, Chaltteok Pie, Jjangsyeoyo, and ZERO Coo&Creme Sand. Uniqlo will operate "UTme!" custom zones at six stores nationwide, including the Lotte World Mall branch, where customers can create T-shirts and tote bags featuring MapleStory characters.
Lotte Cinema will host a live viewing of the MapleStory Summer Showcase on June 13. The MapleStory theatrical animated film will open in theaters starting June 14.
"Through participatory content and immersive experiential elements, we aim to deliver a fantastical experience that makes customers feel as if they have entered the game's world," a Daehong Communications official said.
