Hanmi Pharmaceutical (128940.KS) is creating an "Innovation Growth Division" to lead cash generation at home and abroad through the commercialization of obesity treatments.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical announced on the 10th that it has carried out a full-scale organizational restructuring to respond to the global pharmaceutical and biotech market environment and efficiently achieve core business goals. The move is seen as a step to flesh out the growth strategy of the "2030 Mid- to Long-Term Vision" that the Hanmi Pharmaceutical Group announced last year. At that time, the group designated obesity, anti-aging, digital healthcare, and robotics as new business pillars. It presented a vision of maximizing its core new drug and biotech businesses while discovering new growth engines in non-pharmaceutical sectors to expand business linkages across the group.
Accordingly, Hanmi Pharmaceutical has reorganized into an integrated system of four divisions: Innovation Growth, Sustainable Growth, Future Growth, and Growth Support. The biggest change is the creation of the Innovation Growth Division, which will lead the generation of cash cows. To ensure the successful rollout of obesity treatments — a core task for Hanmi Pharmaceutical — both at home and abroad, the New Product Development Center, Marketing Center, Pyeongtaek Manufacturing Center, Pharmaceutical Innovation Center, and Overseas Sales Team have been integrated into the Innovation Growth Division.
The existing R&D Center has been reorganized into the Future Growth Division. Three centers — the Obesity and Metabolism Center, the Oncology Center, and the Convergence Center — have been placed under it to secure R&D independence and take on the role of discovering innovative early-stage new drug candidates. The Domestic Sales Headquarters has been elevated to the Sustainable Growth Division, strengthening its external standing. The Growth Support Division houses the Paltan Manufacturing Center and the Business Management Center to back the efficient operation of each growth division. In particular, Hanmi Pharmaceutical explained that it has built a system aligned with global standards by securing the functional independence of the clinical Quality Assurance (QA) and Pharmacovigilance (PV) organizations.
"The goal is to break down barriers between departments and concentrate company-wide capabilities on achieving business objectives," Hanmi Pharmaceutical CEO Hwang Sang-yeon said.
