Woowa Brothers, the operator of food delivery app Baemin, held the "2026 Woowa Restaurant Owners' Children Scholarship Ceremony" at COEX in Seoul on Monday, awarding 1.75 billion won to 310 children of restaurant operators, the company said Tuesday.
The scholarship is part of a program Woowa Brothers has run since 2022 for children of restaurant owners. Recipients were selected from restaurant-owning households earning up to 130% of the median income.
Among the 310 scholarship recipients selected this year, high school students receive 3 million won, while university students are provided with 4 million won. Graduate students studying abroad are given 10 million won. In addition to financial support, Woowa Brothers employees participate directly in capacity-building mentoring. Outstanding university scholarship recipients are also offered opportunities for overseas tours to broaden their perspectives.
Since 2022, Woowa Brothers has provided a cumulative total of 9 billion won in scholarships to 1,578 children of restaurant owners, including this year's recipients.
"We hope this scholarship, which supports the families who have walked alongside the restaurant industry, will serve as a solid foundation connecting the growth of restaurant owners' families and their children," said Kim Joong-hyun, head of Woowa Brothers' Value Management Office. "Woowa Brothers will continue to be a reliable partner for restaurant owners in mutual growth."
