Coupang (CPNG) held its "Coupang On-Dongne Care" program at Maepo Gymnasium in Danyang County, North Chungcheong Province, on Wednesday, the company said Thursday.
Coupang On-Dongne Care is a social contribution project in which Coupang and the Korea Central Medical Volunteer Association directly visit medically underserved areas. The latest event marks the second installment of the program, which began in April in Jangsu County, North Jeolla Province. It will be expanded to the North Gyeongsang region in June.
Coupang conducted health checkups for approximately 500 people, including elderly residents and children in Danyang County, as well as students at Maepo Middle School. The services included internal medicine, dental and oriental medicine consultations, blood tests and bone density examinations. For elderly residents with limited mobility, medical staff also carried out in-home visits.
The program expanded its scope to all generations by introducing developmental assessments for children and adolescents in growth stages, including growth curve analysis and growth plate examinations. Medications were provided based on consultation results, and follow-up care will be supported through referrals to nearby hospitals when additional treatment is required.
The social contribution initiative was arranged to strengthen regional cooperation ahead of the pilot operation of the Jecheon Advanced Logistics Center next year. The Jecheon Advanced Logistics Center is a logistics facility being built through an investment of approximately 100 billion won ($73 million). It is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy by creating new jobs.
"We will continue to visit regions in need each month and provide support that residents can tangibly experience," a Coupang official said.
