Bioslutions (086820) has confirmed that the procedure price for its knee cartilage treatment Cartilife will be set at up to 41.54 million won ($30,000) in China.
Bioslutions announced Wednesday that it has completed the official price registration for Cartilife within the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone in Hainan, China. The Hainan Healthcare Security Administration approved 150,000 yuan (approximately 31.95 million won) for one unit of Cartilife per treatment. The pricing structure rises in stages based on usage: 165,000 yuan (about 35.15 million won) for two units, 180,000 yuan (about 38.34 million won) for three units, and 195,000 yuan (about 41.54 million won) for four units.
This signifies that Cartilife's revenue model has been validated within China's healthcare security system. "A more favorable commercialization structure has been confirmed compared to the 'single price of 150,000 yuan' initially expected by the market," a Bioslutions official said. "As the proportion of patients with extensive damage or severe cartilage defects grows, the likelihood of three-to-four-unit prescriptions increases, leaving room for the average selling price (ASP) to rise."
The Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone is a region where the Chinese government permits early commercialization of innovative overseas treatment technologies. Bioslutions believes that having secured an official pricing framework within China's healthcare security system raises the likelihood of entering the actual prescription and revenue stage.
