Xcell Therapeutics (373110.KQ), a cell and gene therapy culture media company, said Thursday it is pursuing a local distribution partnership with Vietnamese bio distributor Minh Viet for its chemically defined media product "CellCor."
Minh Viet is a Vietnam-based bio distribution company that supplies cell culture and cell cryopreservation solutions to research institutions, hospitals, and diagnostic centers. The company is expanding its presence in Vietnam's bio market based on its product portfolio spanning diagnostics, cell-based processes, and quality control (QC), along with its local network.
Through the partnership, Xcell Therapeutics plans to diversify its distribution channels in Vietnam and further strengthen its media supply chain to respond to the rapidly growing Southeast Asian cell and gene therapy (CGT) market. Culture media is a key material in biopharmaceutical development and production, serving as a form of nutrient that enables cells to proliferate and function.
Vietnam has recently been rapidly establishing clinical and quality standards, particularly in cell therapy and regenerative medicine, driving increased demand for chemically defined media that can ensure process reproducibility and safety. The importance of high-quality cell culture media is becoming more pronounced, particularly with the expansion of research and therapeutic areas based on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and exosomes.
"Vietnam is in the early stages of the CGT industry, but the market is growing rapidly along with regulatory developments," an Xcell Therapeutics official said. "We plan to expand our network through partnerships with partners that have local distribution and technical support capabilities, and build a differentiated supply system based on chemically defined media."
