Employees celebrate the KOSPI's breakthrough of the 7,000 mark at Shinhan Bank's headquarters in Jung-gu, central Seoul, on Tuesday, as the benchmark index topped the milestone for the first time in history.
The KOSPI opened at 7,093.01, up 156.02 points, or 2.25%, from the previous session. The index crossed the 7,000 threshold for the first time, just over two months after it first broke above 6,000 on February 25.
