Samyang Biopharm is making a full-scale push into Thailand's aesthetic market with its in-house filler product. The company said Monday that it held an official launch event for its proprietary polymer filler "Rapulen" in Bangkok on the 1st, marking its formal entry into the local market.
Launched in 2022, Rapulen is a biostimulator product that induces collagen production, with polycaprolactone (PCL) — a medical-grade biodegradable polymer — as its main component. The product is characterized by minimal foreign-body sensation after skin injection and natural-looking volume. Research results demonstrating its long-term efficacy have also been published in an international journal indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI).
According to Samyang Biopharm, the Rapulen launch event, organized by its local partner, was attended by 150 Thai doctors. The event focused on the differentiated features, mechanism of action, and clinical benefits of the main component PCL and CMC, an ingredient that helps the PCL remain stable within the skin. Actual injection techniques and optimal treatment areas using the biostimulator combining the two components were also presented.
Samyang Biopharm plans to accelerate its entry into the global market on the back of this Thai launch. In addition to Thailand, Rapulen has received official approval in Indonesia, Taiwan, and Argentina, and the company plans to pursue entry into China, Brazil, and Europe going forward.
"Rapulen is a polymer filler product born out of Samyang Biopharm's polymer research capabilities and patented technology," a Samyang Biopharm official said. "Based on the product's excellence and safety, we will strengthen product promotion while also expanding our presence in the global aesthetic market."
