Woori Asset Management said Tuesday that its WON Doosan Group Focus exchange-traded fund (ETF) posted a 39.6% return in its first month of trading.
According to fund evaluator KG Zeroin, the WON Doosan Group Focus ETF recorded the highest return as of April 30 among seven new ETFs listed on March 31 this year.
The WON Doosan Group Focus is a product that concentrates investments in Doosan Group's major affiliates and partner firms. Roughly 90% of its total assets are allocated to Doosan Group affiliates, with the remaining 10% invested in key related partners.
The performance reflects broad share-price gains across Doosan Group affiliates, which have been viewed as beneficiaries of the expanding artificial intelligence (AI) industry.
Doosan Corp. in particular rose 55% over the past month, driven by growth expectations for its copper clad laminate (CCL) business for AI accelerators. With the outlook for its semiconductor materials business improving, the stock closed above 1.7 million won on Monday.
Foreign capital inflows also supported the strength of Doosan-affiliated shares. According to the Korea Exchange, foreign investors net purchased 1.13 trillion won worth of Doosan Enerbility last month, the second-largest amount among KOSPI-listed stocks.
Market watchers attribute the move to growing interest in small modular reactor (SMR) and nuclear power-related companies, as global Big Tech firms expand AI data center investments and power demand rises. Doosan Enerbility is cited as a key beneficiary on the strength of its competitiveness in manufacturing main nuclear reactor equipment.
Doosan Robotics also rose 38% last month as the potential for cooperation with Nvidia on an industrial robot execution platform drew attention.
The WON Doosan Group Focus ETF concentrates investments in Doosan Group's major affiliates and partner firms. Roughly 90% of its total assets are allocated to Doosan Group affiliates, with the remaining 10% invested in key related partners.
"The performance of the Doosan Group Focus ETF reflects the combined strength of Doosan Group's value chain captured in a single ETF," said Choi Hong-seok, head of the ETF Solutions Division at Woori Asset Management. "As a group ETF product that can ride the AI megatrend, its greatest strength is that investors can invest in the entire AI value chain at once, including nuclear power, semiconductors and collaborative robots."
