CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay-hyun will travel to the United States later this month for his first on-site global management tour of the year. Lee plans to attend "The CJ Cup Byron Nelson," a PGA Tour event sponsored by CJ Group, and visit CJ Olive Young's first overseas store.
According to industry sources on Tuesday, Lee will visit the venue of The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, which will be held from May 20 to 24 (local time) in Texas. The visit aims to lend support to The CJ Cup, which began in 2017 and marks its 10th anniversary this year. During the tournament, Lee is expected to personally serve as a K-Wave ambassador, inspecting "House of CJ," an experiential platform operated by CJ Group to showcase Korean culture to gallery attendees from around the world.
Lee is also expected to visit CJ Olive Young's first U.S. store, which will open in Pasadena, California, later this month as the company's first global flagship location. Olive Young plans to sequentially open multiple stores across the United States, including at Westfield in Los Angeles. In March, the company established its first K-beauty logistics hub in the U.S., the "U.S. West Center," in Bloomington, California.
Lee has consistently shown strong interest in expanding Olive Young's global business. In March, he visited the newly opened Olive Young Central Myeongdong Town store with his eldest son Lee Sun-ho, head of CJ's Future Planning Group, to review operations. At the time, Lee was briefed on the online-to-offline (O2O) services implemented at the store and stressed that "this innovative DNA must be transplanted to U.S. stores as well."
