Hyosung Heavy Industries (298040.KS) said Thursday it will showcase future power grid technologies for artificial intelligence (AI) data center construction at "IEEE PES T&D 2026," to be held in Chicago from May 4-7 local time.
IEEE PES T&D is a biennial global exhibition and academic conference hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), bringing together more than 800 companies worldwide to share power industry trends and solutions.
The exhibition will be held under the theme "Uninterrupted Supply, Unwavering Resilience." Hyosung Heavy Industries plans to present solutions that connect the present and future of the power grid.
Key exhibition products include the world's largest capacity 800㎸ 7000A gas-insulated circuit breaker (GCB), the semiconductor solid-state transformer (SST) as a core power solution for next-generation data centers, a voltage-source high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system developed with proprietary technology, and a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) that strengthens power stability for data centers and renewable energy.
The 800㎸ 7000A GCB on physical display at this exhibition is a specialized model for the US market developed in March this year. Through design optimization, it maintains the same size as the existing 5000A capacity product while stably handling the massive 7000A current.
The 800㎸ GCB is a core power device for the 765㎸ transmission network, which has recently seen active investment in the US, with growing demand for large-capacity equipment.
A sub-module of the 22.9㎸ SST developed by Hyosung Heavy Industries will also be on display. The SST dramatically improves the power efficiency of data centers and is regarded as a "game changer" for future data center power solutions. The US market has recently seen power demand surge at data centers and other facilities due to the explosive growth of the AI industry.
In step with changes in the local market, Hyosung Heavy Industries plans to maximize the competitiveness of existing power devices such as ultra-high-voltage transformers and circuit breakers while showcasing next-generation technologies such as SST and HVDC, establishing its capability as a "total solution provider" with local customers.
"Through this exhibition, we will prove to power industry officials that Hyosung Heavy Industries is the most reliable partner for building AI power grids," a Hyosung Heavy Industries official said.
