The KT&G Scholarship Foundation announced Friday that it has selected 40 culture and arts scholarship recipients in the ballet category and awarded them scholarship certificates.
The foundation held the ceremony on the 25th of this month at the Connect Hall of KT&G Sangsang Planet in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, presenting scholarship certificates to five new recipients and 35 existing recipients. New scholarship recipients were selected through recommendations and evaluations by schools and the World Ballet Teachers Association (WBTA), while existing recipients were included as beneficiaries after passing eligibility renewal reviews.
Each scholarship recipient receives 5 million won (approximately $3,400) along with opportunities to participate in ballet master classes. Those selected as "Global Artist" scholarship recipients among international competition winners receive an additional 5 million won in scholarship funds.
The KT&G Scholarship Foundation's culture and arts scholarship program has been running since 2016 to identify promising talents in cultural and artistic fields such as ballet and nurture them into global talents. To date, the foundation has provided approximately 2.55 billion won (about $1.7 million) in scholarships and educational opportunities to a total of 104 recipients.
"We will continue to support promising ballet talents so they can grow into world-class artists," a KT&G Scholarship Foundation official said. "We will continue various efforts to help talented and passionate individuals realize their dreams."
