Helinox Wear's "Eclipse Pack Down Jacket," operated by Kolon FnC, has won the top prize in the product design category at the Red Dot Design Award 2026. It marks the first time a Korean outdoor apparel brand has received the "Best of the Best (BOB)" award in this category.
The Eclipse Pack Down Jacket is the first model in Helinox Wear's "Edition" series, which is released without seasonal distinction. Reflecting the brand philosophy of crossing boundaries between equipment and apparel, and between outdoor and everyday life, the product sold out within a month of its launch.
The judging panel highly rated the jacket's three-dimensional design that responds to body movement and its ultra-lightweight engineering technology. A curved panel structure expands the range of motion and enhances wearability. The product also achieved a lightweight construction of approximately 320 grams by using 7-denier nylon and 800-fill-power goose down. A panel-segmented structure that reduces down leakage and a packable system that improves portability are also among its features.
"This award proves our brand identity, which pursues wearable gear," a Helinox Wear official said. "This is a case where our design competitiveness, combining functionality and engineering design beyond mere style competitiveness, has been recognized."
The Red Dot Design Award is an international design competition organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany. It is considered one of the world's three major design awards, alongside the iF Design Award and the IDEA. Winners will be announced on the 29th, and the awards ceremony will be held on July 7 at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany.
