
LG Electronics (066570.KS) is teaming up with Nvidia (NVDA) to strengthen its physical artificial intelligence (AI) business, including the advancement of its home robot CLOiD. The partnership between LG Electronics, the world's largest home appliance maker, and Nvidia, the top player in AI chips, is drawing attention as it expands across multiple fronts, including robotics and next-generation AI model development.
According to industry sources on Wednesday, LG Electronics CEO Ryu Jae-cheol will meet Madison Huang, senior director of product marketing for Omniverse and Robotics at Nvidia and the eldest daughter of Nvidia founder Jensen Huang, at the company's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on Thursday to discuss strategic cooperation between the two companies.
During the meeting, Ryu and Huang plan to discuss integrating the "LG CLOiD" home robot, which LG Electronics unveiled at CES 2026 earlier this year, with Nvidia's robotics platform "Isaac." Isaac is a platform that trains robots in a physics-based simulation environment.
The platform enables rapid advancement of robots while minimizing trial and error in real-world environments. LG Electronics plans to first train CLOiD in a virtual environment before applying it to actual work settings, a strategy aimed at boosting both development speed and completeness.
Through the partnership with Nvidia, LG Electronics envisions evolving CLOiD beyond a simple assistive device into an "AI home partner" capable of autonomous judgment and action. Given that the home service robot market is still in its early stages, the company believes leveraging Nvidia's simulation-based learning technology could deliver a "quantum jump" in competitiveness.
To realize this vision, Huang plans to provide comprehensive support by mobilizing Nvidia's full suite of technologies, including its graphics processing units (GPUs), AI software, and simulation capabilities.

The industry is paying attention to the possibility that the cooperation between the two companies could extend beyond a simple technology alliance to build an "AI-robot integrated ecosystem." This is because a virtuous cycle can be formed in which AI models learn from data collected by robots in the real world, and the results feed back into improving robot performance.
The cooperation between LG Electronics and Nvidia is seen as a strategic move to gain an early lead in the future technology paradigm spanning from AI models to robots and home appliances. Earlier, the two companies agreed on November 21 at the LG AI Research Institute in Magok, Seoul, to expand cooperation on jointly developing next-generation AI models and building an ecosystem. The two companies plan to create synergy by combining LG's hyperscale AI "EXAONE" with Nvidia's "Nemotron" open ecosystem.
"LG Electronics will maximize synergy in robotics and AI through its partnership with Nvidia," an industry official said. "The company is laying the technological foundation that can be expanded not only to home robots but also to industries as a whole."
