SK hynix (000660.KS) has won the Corporate Innovation Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's most prestigious technology professional organization, cementing its status as a leader in high-bandwidth memory (HBM). The honor recognizes the company's contribution to expanding the global artificial intelligence (AI) computing ecosystem through stable mass production of every HBM generation, from the first to the latest products.
SK hynix said Wednesday that it received the Corporate Innovation Award at the 2026 IEEE Awards ceremony held in New York on Tuesday (local time).
With a history of more than a century, the IEEE Awards is an authoritative ceremony that recognizes contributions to technological innovation and social development. Among them, the Corporate Innovation Award has been given since 1986 to companies that have changed industry paradigms through innovative technology.
IEEE evaluated that SK hynix played a decisive role in overcoming the performance limits of AI platforms by preemptively presenting HBM solutions for every generation. The award recognizes the company's value as a partner energizing the entire global AI computing ecosystem, beyond simply supplying memory semiconductors.

Chairman Chey Tae-won's Foresight Bears Fruit in AI Infrastructure Partnerships
Industry observers analyze that the award is the fruit of the management philosophy of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, who has emphasized securing technological competitiveness from a long-term perspective. Chairman Chey has steadily expanded AI infrastructure partnerships with global big tech companies, nurturing HBM as the group's core growth engine.
Indeed, SK hynix has seized market leadership by supplying HBM to global heavyweights, including Nvidia, in a timely manner. Despite the highly complex processes with stacked technical challenges, the company's establishment of a stable mass production system across all generations was decisive at this award ceremony.
Ahn Hyun, President and Chief Development Officer (CDO), who attended the ceremony as the company's representative, said, "It is an honor to receive this award on behalf of SK hynix members who have continuously challenged technological limits." He added, "We will become a first-class company that creates value ahead of market demand through close cooperation with global customers and partners."
SK hynix plans to use this award as an opportunity to further solidify its credibility in the global AI market. In particular, the company plans to maintain its technological gap and unrivaled market share in subsequent lineups, including the seventh-generation HBM (HBM4E), which aims for sample shipments in the second half of this year.
