At the BYD exhibition hall at Beijing International Exhibition Center during "Beijing Motor Show 2026" on Monday (local time), a BYD vehicle was displayed running inside a massive freezer set to minus 31.6 degrees Celsius. The Chinese automaker set up the separate space to showcase its proprietary battery, which maintains stable output with minimal performance degradation even in extreme cold.
Right next to it, a BYD employee was charging an electric vehicle equipped with the "second-generation Blade Battery." A display behind the employee showed the current battery charge level and charging speed in real time. BYD shook the industry last month when it unveiled battery technology capable of charging up to 97% in just nine minutes, and the company reinforced its technological credentials at this exhibition by demonstrating the charging process live.

At this motor show, which runs for 10 days in China, local Chinese manufacturers led by BYD focused on showcasing their advanced technological capabilities.
At the booth of Chinese EV startup Xpeng, Chairman He Xiaopeng personally took the stage to introduce the GX, an electric sport utility vehicle (SUV). He spent considerable time highlighting the technology built into the new vehicle rather than its exterior or interior. The new model is equipped with Xpeng's in-house developed AI chip "Turing" and AI model "VLA 2.0." He emphasized that these technologies reduced the frequency of driver intervention on the steering wheel per 100 kilometers by 25% compared to previous models.

Geely Automobile Group unveiled the "Zeekr 8X," a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) SUV, through its premium brand Zeekr. The company introduced the high-end product to compete with premium SUVs such as the Porsche Cayenne in the global market.
