Top-performing investors trading through Mirae Asset Securities (006800) bought Doosan Enerbility (034020), Celltrion (068270) and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (329180) the most on the morning of the 23rd, according to the brokerage.
According to Mirae Asset Securities, Doosan Enerbility was the top net-buy pick as of 11 a.m. among "stock masters" — the top 1% of Mirae Asset clients by return over the past month. The stock rallied 4.92% from the previous session to 121,600 won.
The rally is attributed to strengthened cooperation between national leaders. Following a recent high-level meeting between Korea and Vietnam that agreed to expand cooperation in core industries such as energy, infrastructure and advanced technology, the two sides also discussed nuclear power-related projects and financial cooperation, fueling expectations across the broader industry.
Ranked second in net buying was Celltrion, which traded at 205,500 won, up 0.74% from the previous session. Earnings expectations across the biotech sector and the stock's appeal as a stable investment appear to have drawn attention. On the previous day, Celltrion announced a share buyback of about 100 billion won. The company plans to purchase a total of 492,611 shares on the open market starting that day. The decision came less than 10 days after the company completed the cancellation of treasury shares worth about 1.8 trillion won on the 13th. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the third-most-bought stock, traded at 641,000 won, flat from the previous session.
Meanwhile, SK hynix (000660), which posted record earnings that day, ranked third in net selling. As of 11 a.m., the stock was trading at 1,229,000 won, up 0.49% from the previous session. Despite the blockbuster earnings, gains were limited as the stock had already surged recently. SK hynix reported a first-quarter consolidated operating profit of 37.6103 trillion won, up 405% from the same period last year. Revenue rose 198% to 52.5763 trillion won. Both revenue and operating profit marked record quarterly highs, reinforcing expectations for a semiconductor industry recovery.
The top net-sold stocks on the day were Samsung Electronics preferred (005935), LG Innotek (011070) and SK hynix. On the previous trading day, top net buys were Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI (006400), Hyundai Motor and SK hynix, while top net sells included HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Isu Petasys (007660) and LIG Defense & Aerospace (079550).
