The Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX) is supporting a nationwide survey of illegal occupation facilities in rivers and valleys being promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
LX announced Thursday that it launched a survey on November 17 in parts of Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, to eradicate illegal activities such as the installation of illegal occupation facilities and unauthorized use. The survey, conducted in cooperation with the Gyeongsan city government, is the first of its kind in the country.
The survey applies an integrated model that includes detection of suspected illegal occupation areas based on spatial information, analysis of occupation status through drones and cadastral data, on-site surveying verification, and data-based administrative support. The plan goes beyond one-time status assessment to lay the groundwork for a sustainable smart management system.
LX expects the project to serve as a leading model for expansion to local governments nationwide. The agency views it as an opportunity to shift from the existing manpower-centered approach to a technology-centered management method.
"We will do our best to ensure the project is carried out based on an accurate survey," LX Vice President Lee Joo-hwa said. "We will actively support local governments that wish to conduct such surveys with customized spatial information technology."
