Competition in the home appliance market is intensifying and rapidly spreading into the water purifier segment. Ahead of rising summer demand, companies are broadening their water purifier lineups, heating up competition.
Dreame, a robot vacuum cleaner maker, has entered the Korean water purifier market with its new "C10" model. The C10 features instant hot and cold water dispensing, using rapid heating technology to quickly deliver water at the desired temperature, with precise temperature settings available for different beverages.

The product also applies a dual-protection system combining a multi-layer composite filter with UV sterilization, eliminating bacteria in the drainage pipes and reducing the risk of secondary contamination. It is designed to maintain stable hygiene even in long-term use environments.
Brita is also accelerating its market expansion with the launch of its first cold-hot water purifier, "Cube Cool." The "Cube Cool" is a no-drill product that works by simply plugging it in, requiring no drilling into kitchen countertops or connection to water pipes. Its key strength is that it can be used without burden by renters or consumers who are planning to move.
Product performance has also been enhanced. The purifier applies compressor-based rapid cooling technology to deliver cold water at 5°C, and its 1-liter internal tank enables continuous use. Hot water is also heated within approximately five seconds using an instant heating method, with six temperature settings and eight water-volume settings to accommodate various living environments.
Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) has also begun full-scale entry into the water purifier market. The company has launched its "Bespoke AI Ice Water Purifier" for the first time this year, pursuing differentiated feature competition. The product has an ice-making function capable of producing up to around 1,000 ice cubes, or 8 kilograms, per day. It also features a large-capacity design that can store approximately 100 ice cubes at a time.
In addition, a four-stage filter system removes more than 80 types of harmful substances, while an artificial intelligence (AI)-based customized sterilization function raises the level of hygiene management. The system automatically sterilizes the direct water pipes and ice chamber on a regular basis, learning usage patterns to perform sterilization during non-use hours.
Industry observers say the trend signals that home appliance companies are moving in earnest to expand their territory. They explain that ahead of rising summer demand, new entrants continue to join the water purifier market, a key category in the rental business. "Water purifiers involve diverse competitive factors not only in technology but also in management methods and user experience," an industry official said. "As AI and smart home integration are added to the mix, competition will become even more fierce."
