Hanwha Solutions (009830.KS) announced Thursday it is participating in WIRE 2026, the world's largest wire and cable exhibition, held in Düsseldorf, Germany from May 13-17, to showcase its ultra-high voltage cable material technologies and circular solutions.
WIRE 2026 is a global event where major cable manufacturers and materials companies from around the world gather to share the latest technologies and industry trends. Hanwha Solutions plans to use this exhibition as an opportunity to promote its mid-to-long-term growth strategy and vision in the high-value-added power cable materials sector.
At this exhibition, Hanwha Solutions is unveiling a new cable model that demonstrates its next-generation ultra-high voltage cable material technologies at a glance. The model features SEHV (500kV-class) cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), a next-generation ultra-high voltage material, and semiconductive materials, providing the high insulation reliability and long-term performance competitiveness required in ultra-high voltage transmission environments.
The company is also presenting circular XLPE solutions utilizing de-crosslinking technology. By exhibiting cable models made from recycled XLPE and semiconductive-based materials, it aims to demonstrate the feasibility of achieving a circular economy that combines environmental friendliness and commercial viability in the cable materials sector.
The ultra-high voltage cable materials market is a field that demands high technical capabilities, quality, and long-term reliability. Entry barriers are also high, with certification testing according to international standards alone taking more than two years. Hanwha Solutions has built a high-quality portfolio in the insulation and sheathing materials sector, which determines the long-term reliability of high-voltage and ultra-high voltage cables.
Through its participation in WIRE 2026, Hanwha Solutions plans to further solidify its Europe-centered global network and accelerate business expansion in high-value-added cable materials markets including ultra-high voltage, submarine, and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables. The company particularly aims to focus on increasing its market share in Europe and North America, building on the establishment of its European subsidiary last year.
Hanwha Solutions plans to gradually expand its global supply chain by considering domestic production facility expansion as well as securing new bases in North America and other regions. The strategy involves expanding collaboration with major cable manufacturers across all fronts and simultaneously pursuing more than 30 high-value product certification projects, with plans to enhance its profit structure through full-scale commercialization after 2027.
"This exhibition will serve as an opportunity to fully showcase our ultra-high voltage cable material technologies and circular solution capabilities to the global market," said Carlo Scalata, Head of the Wire & Cable Division at Hanwha Solutions. "Based on differentiated quality competitiveness and customer collaboration, we will further accelerate our push into the high-value-added power cable materials market."
